Vastu for Study Room

Study room is a place where one sits peacefully to concentrate on studies. This room should be located at proper place and direction followed by vastu principles. The vibration in this room creates unseen noise making it unpleasing and if the directions of books, table are placed accordingly, this room will always give you peace and knowledge.

Vastu Tips for Study Room

The study room should be placed either in the Northeast / East or West side of the house.

Students must face East/North while studying.

A beam should never run above your head while studying.

The study room should be well lit and one should not face a blank wall or a window while studying.

The book rack should be made on the Southern or the Western wall.

The shape of the study table should either be square or rectangle.

The size of the study table should not be too big or too small. The proportion of the length & width should not exceed more than 1:2.

The study room should have images of Lord Ganesha and Goddess Saraswati.

The study table should not stick to the wall .It should be at least 3-4 inches away from it.

If the learner makes use of the Table lamp then the lamp should be kept in the Southeast corner of the desk.

A pyramid can be kept near study table as it balances the energy and increase the remembering power.

A pendulum watch should be put on the North wall of the room.

The windows should be larger on the eastern side and smaller on the western side of the room.

Water According to Vastu

Vastu for water

Water on or near a property should be located in the north, east or northeast. The surface level of water located in auspicious directions should always be below the ground level of the rest of the property.

Water has a very powerful influence on Vastu because it acts as a huge energy generator. Any water feature on a property will bring either strong positive or strong negative results to the inhabitants, so it is crucial to determine the Vastu of any water features. Placement

Direction of Flow

Water on or near a property should be located in the north, east or northeast. There are, however, a few exceptions. The surface level of water located in auspicious directions should always be below the ground level of the rest of the property.

Water tanks are important in every house and most houses install tanks random in direction wherever it is suitable. However water tanks have their own place and direction where installation of water resource is consider ideal. According to Vastu North-east is the place for water resource but there are some conditions in which water has to be placed such as over-head tank and under-water tank.

Vastu for Temple

North-east direction is the best place for temple or pooja room in a house. The placement should be such that you face north while praying. Even facing East is OK but first preferred direction is North.

Temple is an integral part of Indian homes and most of the homeowner takes this precaution of keeping things in line with Vastu. Home temple should be designed properly and cautiously as temples are not the matter of sacredness but they relate us our emotions with God and cosmos.

Important Vastu Tips for Temple

Temple should not share the wall having a toilet on the other side (behind it).

Temple should not be placed below a toilet located on the upper floor.

Do not place pooja room and toilet facing each other.

Make a temple made of wood or marble. Avoid temple made in glass or wood.

Design of the temple should be inviting and very attractive.

It is auspicious to keep Crystal Kalash, right-hand Shankh, Shree Yantra or Crystal Shankha in the prayer room.

Use colors of tranquility like white, orange or silver which enhance the space for meditation. These colors are uplifting and energizing.

North-east corner is the place of origination of pure energy, from where it flows through the whole house. Thus, pooja room/mandir in this zone helps in flowing the energy smoothly through every corner of the house.

Kitchen According to Vastu

Kitchen is the most affected area of house from where all kind of energies prevails while an expert Vastu consultant would surely identify about the adverse situation of house if kitchen is placed incorrectly. This important part of house must be placed on its corresponding place i.e. South-east governed by element Fire. Kitchen being the important part of home is the primary contributing factor in the general health and well-being of occupants. Some Important Points for Kitchen

To ensure your kitchen is enveloped in positive vibes, the elements of earth, sky, air, fire, and water need to be in balance, according to Vastu Shastra. If necessary, change or amend certain areas in your kitchen to increase positive energy in your home.

Kitchens in north quadrant tend to affect health female members.

Place water sink in the North-east with the maximum distance from cooking gas.

Larger windows in the kitchen should be in Eastern side while small ventilators should be placed in South.

Provision for water storage and taps should be made in North-east of the kitchen.

Keep all the furnishing away from the wall.

Avoid placing dinning table in the centre of the kitchen instead locate it in the North-west direction.

Electric equipment like microwave, oven or refrigerator should be placed in South-west.

The slope of the water flow should be from Southwest towards Northeast

The storage for all the food grains, utensils, the over head almirah should always be on the Southern and the western walls and not on the Northern and the Eastern walls.

A dishwasher can be placed in the north west of the kitchen.

There should be no toilets and bathrooms adjoining, and above or below the kitchen.

The door of the kitchen should never face the door of the toilet.

Vastu Tips for Kitchen

Direction of the Kitchen: Kitchen should always be on south-east side of the house. Vastu believes that fire governs this direction and hence this choice. If the south-east corner is not available, then the next best direction is the north-west corner of the house. But, a north-west kitchen is believed to increase the household expenses.

Placement of the Stove: Being the main source of fire, placement of the stove is very important in Vastu Shastra. South-east is the preferred direction with the person who is cooking facing the east. Facing the west while cooking is believed to be harmful to the health of the person cooking. The stove should never be positioned in front of the main door of the kitchen.

Placement of Sink: The sink, being a source of water, has to be kept away from fire. North-east corner is an ideal position for this.

Windows and Exhaust: To ensure free flow of air in the kitchen, Vastu suggests at least two windows or air vents here. One each in the west and east is ideal.

Flooring: Black flooring should always be avoided in the kitchen. The walls can be a yellow or orange in an ideal situation.

Location of the Kitchen: According to Vastu, the kitchen should never be above a Pooja room, toilet or bedroom.

Position of Fridge: Refrigerator should never be kept in the north-east direction. South-east, south, west or north direction of the kitchen is suitable for positioning the refrigerator. South-west should be avoided as this can lead to problems with the refrigerator.

Position of the Door: Vastu is against the placement of the kitchen door in any of the corners of the wall. North, east and west are suitable for the main door.

Storage Solutions: Grains, pulses, utensils and crockery should always be stored in the south or west side of the kitchen. North and east sides of the kitchen wall are not suitable for any storage.

Electrical Appliances: Today’s kitchen has a lot of electrical appliances to help with the work. These appliances like a microwave, mixer grinder, toaster etc. should be placed towards the south or south-east direction of the kitchen. North-east side should be strictly avoided for the placement of these electrical appliances.

Dining Table: These days, especially in smaller apartments, allot a position for the dining table in the kitchen itself. The north-west or west side of the kitchen is ideal for a dining table in these cases.

Balcony According to Vastu

According to vastu, areas like balconies, verandahs and roof play a major role in balancing the overall energy of the house. The best direction to build a balcony or a verandah is the northern and eastern directions of the house. North to north-east and eastern direction is considered as positive directions and south and south-west are considered as directions enhancing the negativity of the house. Any balcony located in the south or south-west side of the house must be covered and closed.

A balcony is an important part of the room, it makes the room complete and allows some fresh air and sunlight in the room. Having a balcony is not only good for health, but it is also romantic where you can sit with your partner and have a good time having a cup of tea and talking to each other. Furniture Arrangements in a Balcony

Heavy furniture and seating should be placed in the south-western, southern or western corner of the balcony.

The height of the balcony roof should be lower than the roof of the main building. This will give a proportionate look to the balcony in comparison to the main building.

Guidelines for a Balcony as Per Vastu

As per vastu the heavy furniture and seating should be placed only in west, south or South-West part of the Balcony.

If we are using a swing in the balcony, it should be placed in the East-West axis only.

As per vastu small plants can be placed in anywhere except center, south or south-west parts.

It is recommended that we keep only pots of small flower or plants in the Balcony.

As per vastu the height of the Balcony roof, if any, should be less than the roof of the main building.

Stair According to Vastu

A staircase must always be built in the western or southern part of the house. It should not be constructed in the north-east corner, as it is believed that a staircase here can lead to financial losses. In fact, a staircase in any corner except the western or southern corner is believed to lead to losses. A staircase connects two spaces i.e. internal and external as well as one level to another level. A staircase is one of the most important features in any structure.

Front door facing the staircase is the most common problem as per Vastu. Consider steps going down towards the North, North East and East as auspicious according to the Vastu.

Vastu Tips for Staircase

An external staircase can be built in the southeast direction facing east, southwest direction facing west, northwest direction facing north, and southwest direction facing south.

Always begin your stairs from north to south or east to west. A turn can also be taken to other sides, in case there is a lack of space.

Stairs must always have an odd number and the number must never end with a zero.

Never make circular staircases as they have the ability to cause bad health. Also, a staircase encircling the building can lead to severe calamites.

Construct doors at the end and beginning of each staircase. Also, it's important to make sure the stairs don't touch the northern or eastern walls.

Broken stairs must be repaired instantly, as they may lead to tensions and accidents.

Rooms such as bathroom, kitchen, or pooja room should never be built under a staircase. This area can only be used for creating a storage room.

Staircases must always be painted in light colors and shades such as red and black should be avoided completely.

Bathroom According to Vastu

Vastu for Bathroom  

According to bathroom Vastu, bathroom should be located in North or North-West portion of the house. If bathroom is located in wrong direction, it can cause health and financial problems. Bathroom should not be in South, South-East and South-West direction. South sided bathroom can cause adverse effects on the health of female members. Combined bathroom and toilet should be in north-west direction. It should not be adjacent to Pooja Room, kitchen and under the stairs.

Geyser and other electrical appliances like heater and switchboard should be installed in south-east corner of bathroom. Taps and showers are fixed in north direction. Placing bath tubs in east, west or north-east direction is good. Wash basin and shower can be either in north-east, north or east direction. The North is a good direction for vanity mirror. A water closet should be placed near a window or an outer wall.

The door of bathroom should be in North or East direction. It should not be placed in south-west direction. In a bathroom there should be a small and airy window either in East, West or North direction. If the window is in south direction, it would have adverse effects on health.

The color of bathroom tiles can be white, sky blue and light blue. It helps in giving a fresh look to bathroom. Avoid dark colors like black or red. The slope of floor in bathroom should be towards East or North direction.

Vastu Tips for Bathroom

As per Vastu for bathroom, one must always bathe in the north or east side.

The clothes that need to be washed must be kept in the north-western corner.

Toilet must never be built in the northeast or eastern corner.

It’s good to keep the bathroom clean, as proper sanitation lets positive energies flow freely. According to Vastu for septic tanks, bathroom pipes must have their outlets in the north or east direction.
